Black & White & Grey

I know fall is coming it just doesn't feel like it today.  30+ degrees (about 86 F).  Still some leaves here are starting to change because of the reduction of light, others are waiting for the first freeze.

When it's fall I start to think Grey.

It's a soft workable colour.

A pin from Ross that is a little large to wear,

works perfectly on my white and grey lamp.

I found a beautiful clock today

that finishes my black and white french bathroom perfectly.

I always like a clock in the bathroom when I'm running in the morning.

I never thought I would have a black and white room but the crispness of it is hard to beat.

Pretty Kitchen

I admire an kitchen with style.  Some people really do have beautiful well designed kitchens that seem to gleam and shine.

I have a small u shaped kitchen with regular counters, maple cabinets  and stainless steel appliances.  The fridge is visible from the living room and is a perfect place for some shine.

I like the shine of my mercury glass collection on top of the fridge.

Two weeks ago I found a cup at Urban Outfitters that I just could not walk away from!

I'm not usually a black and white fan but it matches my tea towels.

(they are no touch or use towels, I'm sure I'm not the only Mom with that rule!)

It's a glam little stove now.

A little fancy cookbook area.

The lesson here is the plain out of the box kitchen has a little pizazz now with the addition of some accessories.  I have never put an accessory in a kitchen before and now I wonder what took so long.

Cheers,
Patricia

Wellington Purchases

I'm late in showing my purchases, please forgive me.  Crazy week involving a stupid decision to stand on a moving chair and then fall off named chair.  I spend a few evenings with a sore arm and didn't want to type.

Anyway, I went to the sale at Wellington's on a beautiful Saturday found some unusual treasures.

This is a recycled metal clipboard (small), a zinc plant marker (which I decoupaged with a crown) and a little bird hanger for my daughter. I was unable to use my shabby chic magnets on my fridge and I love that they work on this little rusty piece.

I found two wall hangers which I purchased to help with storage issues.

I love the colour of both of these.

It wasn't a lot (School fees and clothes and shoes are all eating my $$ this month so I'm careful) but it is all lovely.  I brought it into the house and had to unwrap and place everything right away. I'm unsure of the exact place for the metal clipboard but for me it's an item that will move according to need.

I love that I would find these items no where else which is what makes shopping at Wellington so fun.

Cheers

Rose

We were unseasonably warm this week which extended a shortened summer.

It was a beautiful day for the sale at Wellington (I will show my items in my next post).

I purchased a Morden Blush from Wellington about 6 weeks ago and it is doing well.

It is a hardy beautiful continual flowering rose.  I once had one grow to about 6 ft within 5 years.

Enjoy the last few weeks of roses.

Online Joy

Last year I discovered a wonderful online magazine: www.lonnymag.com. It reminds me of "Domino" magazine which was magnificent and creative in ways I had never seen. I have recommended the book before and since they always have it at Anthropology you can take a look before you buy.  It has all the best of the magazine.

(don't bother trying to look inside - won't work!)

Last year Lonny featured Rachel Ashwell's rented London apartment: http://lonnymag.com/issues/1-aug-sept-2010-issue/pages/1#p52

This year House of Fifty online magazine came out,  http://www.houseoffifty.com/

These amazing magazines deserve support and if you know of any other I would love to hear about it.  The economy has driven this move to online magazines and heck it may be the one great thing to come out of a sluggish economy.

Sit back on a rainy day and enjoy.

French Beauty

I was thinking this week that I may not live large or grandly but I do live beautifully and isn't that what we should strive for?

That being said if I had a home with high ceilings this would fit perfectly!!  I walked into Wellington Gift and Garden  and in a small cottage was this beautiful piece.  It towered over me. it must be almost 9 feet.  I tried to capture the whole piece but I missed the top.

Louise XV Armoire with the key $4500.00.

I had seen it in a large tent before but in this small quiet space it was just the most exquisite piece of furniture I have ever seen.

Even the hardware took my breath away.

Wellington is a calming, inspiring haven, a bit of heaven in Edmonton.

I am in a gray phase, I can't get enough. The leaves were blowing in the background and created what looks like a stormy backdrop.

Wellington Garden Centre is on facebook and if you like them you will be rewarded with beautiful pictures.

They are having a sale Saturday, September 10th  from 10-6 for Garden Club Members and if only my budget matched my dreams!

Cheers,
Patricia
